My shop is at 702 Main Street in Lapel, Indiana. It is located at the intersection of Main and Seventh Street.
Lapel is a short drive from Indianapolis, four miles north of I-69, exit 214. My shop is in the front of an 1887 brick former grocery store. There is a tin ceiling and the windows are large and provide wonderful natural lighting. In the winter it is heated with a wood stove where I burn my scraps.
My hours are 11-5, Wednesday through Sunday. During the winter, from October to March, I am closed on Sunday.
Half of the shop is my workshop and storage area, and the other half is display area. I have a large selection of handmade rustic willow furniture that I make myself from hand gathered willow saplings that grow in wet areas around this area. I use mostly recycled wood, leather fabric and birchbark. I make a wide assortment of chairs, loveseats, swings, and tables of all sizes. I make stools of all sizes, painted wood, inlaid willow, leather or upholstered. I make beds, from simple to a grand canopy bed.
I make decorative vases covered with fabric, leather or birchbark.
Another line of items are picture frames and mirrors, using birchbarck, corkscrew willow and leather.
In addition to items of furniture, I make trellises, birdhouses and arbors.
I also gather natural items such as bittersweet, cattails, pussywillows and corkscrew willow, which are used in decoration to bring a touch of nature to your home.
I do not make standard items. Each piece is one of a kind and my prices are not standard, but my prices are reasonable and reflect the time and effort I put into them. I am old school and strive for quality, sturdiness and beauty. My pieces last, many are still in service that I made thirty years ago.
