Lafayette Trace park

Saw a pair of red-breasted mergansers on the little creek that parallels the road. They were diving for minnows and were well lit by the winter morning sun.I was impressed by how golden their eyes were. The females' head was very chocolate colored. The male had a green head and although they were large, they were very slim.
