A few hours in the damp woods only revealed one morel today, but a profusion of warblers in Veterans park in Fortville made it worthwhile. Although the day was dim and dark, I was able to miss the rain and heard lots of Tennessees, Kentuckys, Prothonitaries, yellows, and Northern Paraluas. We have had a rose breasted grosbeak on our hummingbird feeder as well as a few hummers. I also saw a palm warbler and gray cheeked thrush in the backyard.
My sister Jennifer and I went up to the Mississinewa on Thursday and found a few morels near the waterfall as we have in past years. There were no warblers at all. We had a nice day and it is always wonderful to visit the waterfall.
