Sumac day

Went by six of the places where I gather sumac, no not poison sumac, that is something different. Smooth sumac is a bright red cluster of berries that grow along roadsides and railroads. Almost all the ones I gathered today were along railroads. The drought has taken a toll on them this year and they are small and scarce, not large and abundant as they usually are. I put some on display in the shop and boxed up the rest to take to the Country Living show next September. I ran out there this year and want to make sure that does not happen again. Also checked out some of the curly willows I plan to begin cutting tomorrow. I will also stop by Darlene Patterson's and cut down her small dead white birch tree.
